On April ane, 1912, a group of Japanese businessmen and officials from Tokyo came to The United States Capital, Washington, D.C. to plant cherry trees as a gift to the U.S.
The souvenir was part of an endeavor to establish lasting goodwill between the United States and Japan during what has been called the "friendly era" of diplomatic relations betwixt the 2 countries (1854-1912).
The original goal was to plant around three,000 cherry trees in Washington merely they were unable to notice 3,000 perfectly direct copse and ended up planting around 2,000 copse in several locations in Washington D.C.
Many of these trees are still present today and a popular destination for both people living in the United States and tourists from other Countries.
